Uncovering Novel Resistance Mechanisms in Sudanese E. coli via In Silico Mutation Analysis of Key Drug Targets
Overview
Objectives
- Identify clinically relevant E. coli strains from Sudan with known drug resistance profiles.
- Extract and analyze resistance-associated genes, including those involved in antibiotic target binding and efflux.
- Predict the structural impact of point mutations on key proteins using in silico tools such as homology modeling and stability analysis.
- Simulate drug-target interactions to determine how mutations alter binding affinity and contribute to resistance.
- Compare mutational patterns with global AMR databases to identify unique or emerging resistance mechanisms in Sudanese isolates.
- Support the development of local AMR surveillance and inform the design of next-generation antimicrobial compounds.
