Overview
The MSc in Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary program that bridges biology and computer science to address complex challenges in human health, agriculture, and the environment. The program provides students with strong foundations in molecular biology, programming, algorithms, proteomics, structural biology, and biological data analysis. Graduates are equipped to design and apply tools for analyzing biological datasets and are prepared for careers in biomedical research, clinical diagnostics, biotech industries, and academic institutions.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the admission standards set by the National University and the Ministry of Higher Education. Eligible candidates include:
- B.Sc. (Honours) with at least Second Class in: Biochemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnology, Computer Science, or related fields
- B.Sc. (Honours) with Third Class + one qualifying semester in: Biology, Molecular Genetics, IT, Statistics, etc.
- B.Sc. (General) with Second Class + one qualifying year in a relevant field
- B.Sc. (General) with Pass or Third Class + a Postgraduate Diploma in a related subject
Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be able to:
